Norfolk as a boating community has become so popular that each year thousands of boaters come together to celebrate the city’s renowned Norfolk Harborfest® weekend. During the festival, an expansive fleet of tall ships from all over the world visit Norfolk and parade from the Chesapeake Bay into the harbor accompanied by an array of character vessels, sleek power cruisers, sailing craft, antique and classic wooden boats, Chesapeake Bay workboats, military vessels, tugs and more. Nearly half a million visitors gather on the downtown waterfront to celebrate the city’s rich nautical heritage. Norfolk Festevents offers special boating packages allowing boaters to tie up in a slip at Waterside Marina, located on the harbor front adjoining Town Point Park, to enjoy this three-day festival as well as the over 100 festivals which take place at the waterfront park annually.

There are a whole host of marinas located within Norfolk’s city limits, most of which are full-service – offering boat rentals, charter boats, high-speed internet access, athletic clubs and swimming pools. In addition, several marinas have full restaurants and tiki bars, picnic areas, grocery van services, showers and laundry facilities.
