3 DAYS / 2 NIGHTS

Our trekking itinerary offers the opportunity to experience the majestic beauty of Norfolk, Virginia. The awe-inspiring Norfolk Botanical Garden offer breathtaking gardens and scenery from a 2-acre butterfly garden to signature and themed gardens. The Virginia Zoo allows visitors to feed the animals. Discover this versatile, ever-changing city and learn about the unique marine and science history at Nauticus, fabulous downtown nightlife and the worldly dining through a trekking adventure of Norfolk, Virginia!

Day 1

A.M. Start the day with private sailing lessons courtesy of Sailtime, located at the Willoughby Harbor Marina. Whether you’re novice or experienced, Sailtime instructors will teach you how to confidently and safely pilot your boat, lead a crew and have more fun in a variety of conditions in your local waterway.

Lunch Enjoy lunch on the roof top restaurant of the Ocean View Fishing Pier overlooking the Bay. Savor the delicious Willoughby clam chowder or the sure to please the taste buds Chesapeake Burger. Watch below as locals and visitors catch fresh fish from the pier.

P.M. Spend the afternoon fishing off the Ocean View Fishing Pier. Overlooking the scenic Chesapeake Bay, the Ocean View Fishing Pier offers complete facilities and equipment for everyone who lives - and loves - to fish. Don’t feel up to fishing? Ocean View Watersports has jet skies along with all other types of watercraft to make the most of your time on the water!

Dinner Havana serves up American fare with a Cuban twist. This American cafe, offers seafood appetizers along with plentiful salads. Entrees expand to include pork, duck, steak, chicken and pasta.

Day 2

A.M. Enjoy a fun-filled morning of kayaking through the waterways of the Norfolk Botanical Garden and explore a variety of plants from the cultivated to the wild along with a 2-acre Bristow Butterfly Garden. (Advanced reservations required)

A.M. Spend the afternoon discovering Norfolk Botanical Garden’s exquisite gardens on a hike through 12 miles of path. Guests are invited to bring their walking shoes and enjoy hours of hiking bliss. (Self guided)

Lunch Stop for lunch at The Garden Café, the perfect choice for a bistro-style lunch. Guests can dine while enjoying the spectacular views of the gardens from the terrace.

P.M. Meet the lions, feed the giraffes or paint with the elephants at the Virginia Zoo! These once in-a-lifetime Zoo opportunities are now available. Only the Virginia Zoo offers you up-close animal tours filled with memorable experiences and fascinating information. Hop aboard the Zoo Train for an informative tour that includes live narration from the train engineer about the Zoo and its collection of plants and animals!

 

Dinner Grab a bite to eat at Press 626 Café, located in Norfolk’s historic Ghent. Dedicated to local foods and regional economies, Press 626's menu reflects the farms and artisans who provide many of their delicious ingredients. Or stroll through Historical Ghent, down Colley Avenue, or 21st Street, and find over 30 locally owned restaurants.

Day 3

A.M. Start the morning off with a Segway tour of downtown Norfolk.  Learn the history and the secrets behind this sea port town!  Or rent a bike and ride the Elizabeth River Trail along Downtown Norfolk Waterfront all the way to Old Dominion University.

A.M. Along your Segway tour or bike trip, visit Nauticus, a fun and exciting interactive science and technology center, exploring the power of the sea! While there, explore the Battleship Wisconsin, one of the last and largest battleships built by the US Navy. Stand beneath her 16-inch guns and feel the excitement of being aboard a historic warship. Visitors can also stroll through the Hampton Roads Naval Museum and experience 200 years of Naval history in Hampton Roads.

Brunch Before heading home, dine at Omar’s Carriage House for brunch. This two-story brick building nestled in the historic Freemason District once sheltered horses. Today it houses this cozy restaurant that serves innovative dishes in a cheerful setting. Seafood Benedict is the star specialty of Sunday brunch along with other classic breakfast favorites, such as waffles and omelets. Cannot decide on just one place to eat?
