Norfolk Welcomes the USS Tutila (ARG-4) Reunion
NORFOLK, Va.– (September 6, 2011) – The USS Tutuila Association will host a reunion on September 14 – 18, 2011 at the Holiday Inn Select in Norfolk, VA. Part of this reunion includes a MIA/POW remembrance ceremony, on Friday, September 16, at 10:00 a.m. on the Battleship Wisconsin. The USS Tutuila served the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1972, earning 13 campaign stars, three Navy Unit Commendations, and two Meritorious Unit Commendations for the ship’s contributions in the Vietnam War. For the greater part of 1951 to 1965, it operated out of Norfolk, undergoing operations and preparations for numerous deployments. The USS Tutuila Association would like to extend an invitation to anyone who served on this ship to come celebrate its impressive history and contribution to the U.S. Navy.
