VisitNorfolk Welcomes the National Association of Bariatric Nurses
Norfolk, Va. – (September, 24 2010) – The National Association of Bariatric Nurses will convene in Norfolk, Virginia for the 7th Annual Meeting and Conference September 29 – October 1, 2010 at the Norfolk Waterside Marriott. Nurses and other healthcare professionals interested in the care of morbidly obese clients and families are encouraged to attend the conference where educational sessions, problem solving, identification of current best practice care guidelines, exploration of recent research, and issues unique to the care of the bariatric patient will be discussed.
“This is the perfect time of year for an energizing and exciting conference discussing and planning for improved care for morbidly obese individuals and their families,” states Sharon I. Sarvey, PhD, RN, President.
In 2004, the National Association of Bariatric Nurses was formed out of a recognized need for the nursing profession to dedicate resources, knowledge, and research towards improving the life and nursing care of people suffering from obesity. Continuing on its epidemic path, obesity presents challenges to nurses and other health care professionals providing care for patients affected by this serious health problem.
