Getting Around

It’s so easy to get around in Norfolk!

If your stay brings you downtown, we encourage you to leave your car in one of the many convenient city parking facilities in and around the waterfront. We suggest taking a stroll down the pedestrian-friendly streets, or simply hop on the NET — the electric trolley system. NET stops are marked with easily visible signage along its route in downtown Norfolk. On the NET, you can get from place to place within a 2.2 mile circuit of downtown without leaving so much as a carbon footprint. If you want to venture outside of downtown, in most cases it’s just a 15-minute car or taxi ride to any of Norfolk’s exciting attractions.

In 2011, with the completion of Norfolk’s new light rail system—the Tide—access will expand to other areas of the city, and Hampton Roads as well.
