What is it? In the broad sense, Voluntourism represents voluntary service experiences incorporated into your travel experience whether as part of a group or individually. The NCVB recognizes the importance of giving back to the community. Our visitors, whether they are convention attendees or leisure travelers, want to help too. In response to this need, we are partnering with VOLUNTEER Hampton Roads to provide you the opportunity to volunteer while you’re visiting Norfolk. VOLUNTEER Hampton Roads is the nonprofit resource center for southeastern Virginia. Established in 1957, the mission is to strengthen the community by building the effectiveness of nonprofit organizations, connecting people with volunteer opportunities and promoting volunteerism. For a list of volunteer opportunities, please click here. Team Works: Team Works is a unique program designed to assist groups with volunteer opportunities. VOLUNTEER Hampton Roads handles the logistics and project management for a seamless, well executed volunteer service project that is guaranteed to provide optimum impact and yield high return on investment by: Contract Development: Scheduling a preliminary meeting to discuss focus and logistics of the project. Partnership Support: Serving as liaison and main point of contact between your organization and the nonprofit partner(s) ensuring quality selection and communication. Project Selection: Recommending nonprofit partner(s) with which to work for your project to ensure a match between the mission of the nonprofit and the goal of your organization. Program Planning and Execution: Creating day of event schedule and contingency plans, managing volunteers and event day support.
